Traditional Braces in Nappanee: Time-Tested Smile Solutions

For more complex orthodontic needs, traditional metal or ceramic braces remain one of the most effective solutions. Our Nappanee orthodontists use high-quality materials and precise techniques to move your teeth into their ideal positions efficiently and safely.

Traditional braces are ideal for:

Severe Malocclusions

Ideal for extreme overbites, underbites, or crossbites needing significant correction.

Complex Tooth Movements

Better suited for intricate rotations or vertical adjustments. Best for patients needing bite correction or jaw surgery.

Non-Compliance Concerns

Fixed braces ensure continuous treatment, perfect for those who might struggle with wearing aligners consistently.

Children with Mixed Dentition

Effective for guiding the transition between baby and permanent teeth.

Faster Treatment Time

Often achieves results quicker due to consistent force and additional appliances.

Budget-Friendly

Typically more affordable than Invisalign.

Invisalign in Nappanee: Clear & Comfortable Alignment

Invisalign in Nappanee offers a discreet, removable, and comfortable way to straighten your teeth. Each set of custom-made clear aligners gently shifts your teeth into place over time—all without brackets or wires. Invisalign is a favorite among both Nappanee teens and adults who want a more subtle orthodontic option.

Why Nappanee patients choose Invisalign:

Discreet Appearance

Clear aligners are nearly invisible, making them a popular choice for those seeking a more subtle treatment option.

Comfortable Fit

Made from smooth plastic, Invisalign aligners are comfortable to wear and less likely to cause irritation.

Removable for Convenience

You can easily remove Invisalign aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss, making it easier to maintain oral health during treatment.

Customized Treatment

Each set of aligners is custom-made to fit your unique dental structure, ensuring effective and precise results.

Fewer Office Visits

Invisalign requires fewer in-office adjustments, allowing you to maintain your busy schedule with minimal disruption.

Predictable Outcomes

Invisalign uses advanced 3D imaging technology, allowing you to see a virtual preview of your treatment plan and expected results before you even start.

Is Every Dentist an Orthodontist? Understanding the Difference

While all orthodontists are dentists, not every dentist is an orthodontist. The distinction lies in their education and specialization:
11

Dentists

Dentists are general practitioners who provide a broad range of oral health services, including preventive care, restorative treatments, and some cosmetic procedures. They complete dental school and earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
9

Orthodontists

Orthodontists are dentists who have undergone additional specialized training in the alignment of teeth and jaws. After completing dental school, they pursue an additional 2-3 years of orthodontic residency to become experts in diagnosing and treating malocclusions (misaligned bites) and other orthodontic issues.

Why Choose a Dentist Who Also Provides Orthodontic Care?

Comprehensive Care Under One Roof

You can receive both general dental care and specialized orthodontic treatment from a single provider, simplifying your dental experience and ensuring continuity of care.

Holistic Approach

A dentist with orthodontic expertise understands the full spectrum of your oral health needs, allowing them to create integrated treatment plans that consider both your dental health and alignment goals.

Convenience

Having both services available at the same practice means fewer appointments and more streamlined communication, saving you time and ensuring that your dental and orthodontic treatments work seamlessly together.
At Topping Dental, we are proud to offer both general dentistry and expert orthodontic care. Our ability to provide a wide range of services under one roof makes us the ideal choice for families seeking comprehensive and coordinated dental care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Orthodontics in Nappanee

What’s better—braces or Invisalign?

Both are effective. Braces may be better for complex cases, while Invisalign offers a discreet option for many teens and adults.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Treatment time varies, but most orthodontic plans in Elkhart last between 12 and 24 months.

How much does Invisalign cost compared to braces?

The cost of Invisalign and braces can vary based on the complexity of the case and the duration of the treatment. Generally, Invisalign might be slightly more expensive than traditional braces, but the difference is often minimal. We offer payment plans to make both options affordable.

Can adults get braces or Invisalign in Nappanee?

Absolutely! We treat adults of all ages who want to improve their smile and bite.

How often do I need to visit the dentist during orthodontic treatment?

During orthodontic treatment, whether with braces or Invisalign, you will typically need to visit your provider every 4 to 6 weeks to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

Do you offer orthodontic consultations in Nappanee?

Yes! Call our Nappanee office at 574-848-7487.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Invisalign aligners may cause some discomfort when you first start wearing them or when you switch to a new set of aligners, as they are moving your teeth. However, this discomfort is usually mild and temporary, and most patients find Invisalign to be more comfortable than traditional braces.

What can I eat with braces or Invisalign?

With traditional braces, you’ll need to avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods that can damage the brackets and wires. Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can eat whatever you like, but it’s important to brush your teeth before putting the aligners back in to maintain good oral hygiene.

How do I care for my teeth during orthodontic treatment?

Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial during orthodontic treatment. For braces, you’ll need to brush and floss carefully around the brackets and wires. With Invisalign, you should brush your teeth after eating and clean your aligners daily to prevent plaque buildup and keep your treatment on track.

Can orthodontic treatment fix my bite?

Yes, orthodontic treatment, whether with braces or Invisalign, can correct various bite issues, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites. Proper bite alignment not only improves the appearance of your smile but also enhances your overall oral health.
